Bringing Home My Boy

by Roro on 27/09/2009

This photo was taken on the day Arlo came home, in April 2009. We’d actually met for the first time a couple of weeks earlier when I went up to visit his breeder in New South Wales and chose him from the litter. He wasn’t the boldest of the bunch, but his tail certainly wagged the most!

It's LOVE!

It's LOVE!

I had just gotten back from living in Bangkok and even before I left I knew that I was going to choose a pup from that litter. It was an amazing feeling, after months and months of waiting and planning, to see the station wagon drive up with my puppy in the back. I think that feeling is written all over my face!

He was exhausted after the drive and with all the new things to see. He came down to Melbourne with one of his sisters, who was picked up at the same time. I wish I’d thought to ask the other new puppy parent for her details. I’d love to know what his siblings look like now. Arlo came home and went straight to sleep in his crate. I’d bought him a SnugglePuppie, which is really a terrific thing to have for a new pup – they’re soft toys with a heat pack and a heartbeat. I remember the bubby spending most of his nap time curled around his during the first month or so at home.
